Hi, and another query.....
I'm currently working on a University project that I've created in REVIT 6.1 at work. I noticed at University, that the version of REVIT there is 6.0 and couldn't open a version 6.1 file (well, duh!)....however, when I went to do the usual thing in this situation, i.e. do a "Save As" I discovered that this wasn't the place to convert to an earlier version....nor did "export".....I can't see anything on the help menus.....surely, there is a way!...Suggestions?
ta muchly,

Sorry, Revit has never been able to convert a new file version to an older one.
Historically, there are good reasons for this, primarily having to do with the "dumbing down" of parametric elements, etc, from the more advanced file, with subsequent data loss, as well as the level of support required to keep multiple versions going.

Good Grief!......Really?!!??!?!...Well, I suppose they have their reasons as you say....It just seems weird when you consider that this is a standard thing for most software...OK...I'm being told over my shoulder as I type this that ArchiCAD doesn't do it either....Thanks, BG....Guess I'll just have to make an "executive decision" when starting the files in future
cheers,

Executive Discussion should be to upgrade ... I'd like to hear the reasoning why you wouldn't upgrade ? Subscription is mandatory and upgrading is built into the cost.
I think its a positive, honestly... I hope I never have to use an object enabler again in my life.

I understand that neither ADT or Building Systems allow saving back to previous file formats in 3D. ( Nor that Hungarian software you mentioned  .)
If there is some good reason for the Uni not to upgrade to 6.1, would the 60 day trial version get you out of trouble ?

Oh, I'm not in trouble with it, BG....It would just have been convienient for me to be able to work on a file at both locations, that's all. I created the file at work (after hours of course) and because the University (QUT) is close to where I live, it would have been convienient for me to work on it there on the week-end rather than having to go into the office to work on it.......The other thing I found not good, was that the REVIT loaded on the QUT network doesn't have the "help" files loaded....as I'm still a learner-driver, I find myself sometimes "hamstrung"! Not good when you consider it's supposed to be a learning institution!
cheers,
John Mc

Yeah i found QUT haven't seem to bother to update to point releases. They didn't upgrade when 5.1 was out either...
