Good Day,

We created a generic model family to show the ADA clearance rectangle around a sink. When doing a Callout-Detail view that specific family doesn't show. When I move it up to 4' it shows, why is that?

Thank you!

Is this generic model composed of only symbolic lines? Try adding an invisible vertical model line to the family. This will make sure that the family is being cut by your cut plane and therefore the lines should show.

It sounds like the View Range is set up differently between your two views. Are you sure that your overall view is not set to Wireframe and your enlanged plan is set to Hidden?

I have done the same trick but drew an X with <invisible> Model lines in the Floor Plan : Ref Level in the family. I drew them on the ref planes that define the origin of the family. The purpose for me was to be able to see in the Floor Plan (not just the RCP) a service panel that is in the ceiling i.e. 8'-6" AFF. I came to this realisation by pure luck :-)

Firstly I apologize for not checking sooner, I didn't realize it's been so long already.

Thank you Andre, the vertical line worked perfect. I don't understand why, how the vertical line helps, would you explain that to me?

I don't have a service panel, but something similar I'd like to see on both plans also, I'll try your trick and hope it helps me too!

Thank you both!

I’ll step in for Andre. The cut plane must intersect the object geometry. This technique is often used when the object is above the cut plane; lighting fixtures, for example.
