Well, I downloaded Revit Arch and got about half way through the first tutorial three times. I created a family object consisting of a simple beam, assigned parameters, flexed the object to make sure all of the parameters were working, saved the family and loaded it into a fresh project. Up until this point everything went as per the tutorial.
The next step is to add the new object to the project. The new family appears in the family list for the project. I click on the family and drag it into the floor plan-level 1 view. When I get over to the project window and release the mouse, the mouse icon changes to a circle with line through and nothing appears in the window.
I also notice that when I double click the family, none of the parameters that I added when I created it are there, but when I preview the family, it looks fine.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
