pot plants

Hi can some1 give me a guide line as to how to create potplants so that in plan view plants look like plants and not 2 lines and an odd shape polygon. I WOULD ALSO BE rendering this later on.
2ndly cna some1 tell me as to y when rendering the background still remains as dull grayish colour even though you choose little cloud as background. Pliz explain with full process. Apologies if the question is a repeat.

You need to create a planting family. In Plan or elevations create the look you want using linework. Then add an RPC(you will find that in the properties) for rendering purpose.
You might need to purchase th right plant though.

If you're using 2009, then you can't. Mental Ray in Revit doesn't let you put in your own images in the background (it doesn't really let you in Max either, to be fair, it's a quirk of Mental Ray).

So what you can do is either turn the clouds way up so you get at least some sort of sky showing up, or you can set the background to be a solid color in the render settings under Sky.

When your render is finished, you can export the image as a .PNG or .TIFF and it will already have the background cut out for you to paste in whatever image you want.

I have been reading thru the irevit blog and it says u can get the sky renders in 2009 revit and i have it printed with me but it doesnt say how, all it says is that if u r not getting right background images means that we dont have a completed version of revit 2009. its irevt website.
i ma confused whether we have this optionor not, or is it missing from our installations.

sorry dont think so for da project that m working on requires pot plant for some green building thingy.
