Hi all,
Could any one help me? I need to create a screen family, (see the attachment) this is coming in the exterior side of the walls,
i was trying to create using generic family template, i created outer frames. Then I started creating those sleeves by using solids and voids. is this is a correct way of doing? Because when i copy paste those sleeve panels system become very slow and i got some message saying use nested family! please help me
which family templete i should use for this family ..............
thank you

Push,
I wouldn't model those sleeves. You can use a simple element (can even be an extrusion, like if it was a simple glass panel), apply 100% transparency and use a model pattern for the surface. You can create a model pattern that has the same "effect" that the sleeves have'. Doing this, you are not over modeling your family (your system won't slow down) and the visual results will be the same.
But if you ever want to model them, It is better to model the sleeves as a family and make sure they "flex" properly and then nest them into the main family. The message you had about nested family, is that Revit will have a better performance if you create repeated parts as one family and nest it into the main family rather than creating them as solids and voids (part of the main family) and trying to copy/array multiple times.
As for the template to use, it depends on how do you want it to schedule... Is it considered a window? Then a window template is the best. If it is just something like a louver, than you can create it as a generic model...

I am managed to create one screen, find the attachment of revit and pat file. i can apply this hatch pattern for my glass in screen, so that in elevation it will look like as i wanted. Do any one know how to edit this pat file, i want this pattern to be straight (now its in 45 deg rotated) i tried editing the note file but of no use. For time beeing i am creating individual screens for each type, it can be parametric? any thoughts are welcome

Hi,
I found the square hatch pattern file in auto cad, so my drafting problem is solved.
In future i want to render this project one everything is completed, can i map images in revit for those screens? Like max? if so then how can i get those negative spaces in the screen? (i use opacity map in max for this)
