We have one project in which we have 4 departments of in the building at different agnles. Is it possible to have seperate project north for each department that will allow orthogonal working?
I tried using manage place and locations, but then when i change project north for one location, it changes in all saved locations. Am i missing something?
I am using Revit 2009 WU2.
Thansk in anticipaiton.

If it is a large campus of buildings, you can make each "wing" a separate
Revit Link, with its own True and Project North.

We have done several schools with building wings coming off a central core at different angles. What we did is just rotate the crop region for each wing's enlarged view so that it would fit orthogonally on the sheet.

Thanks very much for all your quick replies.
Patrick,
So do you mean when we make a callout from a big view, then you go into that callout and rotate it orthogonally? or you would create dependant views and rotate each dependant crop region?

One particular school I'm thinking of was done way back in version 7 I think, long before dependent views. For that, we did plan callouts on an overall plan, and then rotated the crop region of each callout view to the angle required.
I suppose dependent views could be done the same way.

The problem with using dependant views for this, is that all tags and text remain oriented to the Parent view. This is most annoying for my door tags, which look best when made parallel to the opening.

I just drew some walls to make a building with wings coming off at different angles. I created a couple of dependent views for individual wings, and rotated the crop region to make that portion of the building orthogonal to the sheet. Then I placed some doors and door tags in each dependent view.
When I set the tags to vertical in each dependent view, they looked correct. When I went to the parent view, the tags were still vertical, but with respect to the sheet. That's fine, though, since I don't parent views on sheets.
So dependent views works just fine for this, even with the tags. See the attached Revit file.

I was doing it the other way round!
Thanks for the tip :)

Yep, text notes work fine in the dependent views, too. If you switch to the parent view, the text appears rotated to whatever angle your dependent views are rotated, but in the dependent views, everything looks normal.
So this would be the best way, as you can use matchlines and matchline view reference tags.

thanks very much you all for your help.
I will try this on our project
