I have been a long term revit user but only recently have adopted worksets throughout the office. We have some staff working from external locations working on the same project and I am hesitant to try remote worksets (as described in the help files) after reading the warnings.
The help files state to have a second session on a users computer internally and then copy the files between externally and internally at the desired interval.
Can anyone provide some comments to relieve my concerns or provide a set of rules which we can work with to allow the situation to work. Thanks

I would look into technology like Riverbed instead

thanks, I will look into it, is there anything more specific in relation to the actual application and how it works / is setup?

Interesting technology, I don't think I can justify those sort of $$ though, anything else out there, can anybody comment on the help method?

If the user(s) working outside the office are working on a project at the same time as user(s) inside the office...you are going to have problems with worksets.
You could try something like Riverbed (Suggested in a past post and seems to be something that comes up anytime Revit and WAN are mentioned.)
You can do Remote Desktop (which I think you are talking about)
If the outside users are working on projects independently then they can just check out all the workset from the file before starting to work on it. The central file would need to be on a file server and available over the VPN/WAN. Another option would be to set up the project in the beginning with multiple central files that would be linked into a composite site model (common concept). If the project had multiple files then users outside the office could work on a single file and checkout all the worksets and users in the office could work on a different file. It is not a perfect solution and you can have issues when it comes to Save To Central for users outside the office.

Remote Desktop (or similar) to a computer on the LAN is the current way to do that.
