View Full Version : Apparent Revit 2009 Hidden line Bug?

We have observed hidden lines changing to solid lines in REVIT 2009 structure. We have look at it extensively and cannot work out why it seems to randomly happen. Worst of all some times (not always) it prints out solid.
Please refer to my attached image highlighting the issue
We would be interested to know:
1. Are other people having the problem in Revit 2009 structure
2. Is there a solution

I have never encountered this issue.
Can you create a small mock model that you can post here. A picture like yours simply has too many different variables in what might be the problem.

Are the slabs joined? Maybe it's showing a solid line because of that.

I have come across this problem previously, and always with the footings/slab edges in my foundation plan. The problem hasn't ocurred in a while, so my best guess would be that a program update has resolved the issue. Otherwise, I'm not sure where the problem originates.

If you guys can throw together a mini mockup RVT file and post it, that would be great for the rest of us to understand what's happening and play with it? Thanks!

Like I said, this issue is no longer ocurring in my models, so no I cannot. Maybe allen.wise could you help you there.

Had a similar problem with this.
I guess firstly check there isn't a fall modelled into the slab, as that would over-ride to no longer show a soffit but a slab step (as the beam would in essence be above slab creating a slab step) We encountered this problem where the architect had modelled a fall into the structural slab instead of using a screed.
Secondly check that there is no rotation on your beam.
I found the best way around it was to model the beam 50mm less depth, and push it 50mm below the required level. This will cause it to show properly on plan and in section.
The problem with this method is that if you are using revit to schedule the beam they will list incorrectly and you may have to over-ride your schedule with comments (not that big of a deal)
For example an 1800x500 Beam set at Level 1 - You now model as 1800x450 set at Level 1 -50mm.
