Well, this is an answer:
Build a wall in Existing.
Build another identical wall of the size you are going to demo, right in the volume of the first wall.
Join the walls.
Pick the inserted wall, change Phase Demolished to New Construction.
As if by magic, the inserted wall appears demolished in a Previous + Demo View set to New Construction, and does not appear in Show Complete in New Construction.
Build a wall in Existing.
