roof void linework

i've made a void in my main roof where a gable dormer intersects the main roof. I can't seem to choose the void w/ the linework tool to indicate the projected ceiling lines above.
I used the 'cut geometry' tool to cut the void w/the main roof.

Try using the opening tool found on the modelling tab, rather than the cut geometry tool. That should solve it.
