What will the advantage for me to Upgrade to RAC2009? And do I really have to upgrade my memory also to 3G instead of just 1G? You opinion is very important to me...
Thanks Guys
There are probably a few threads here on the benefits of subscription so perhaps look at those which will give you some ideas on reasons to keep up to date with the upgrades. Also have a look at the new features in RAC2009 and Im sure you will find some cool new tools that will increase your productivity more than you might think.
Aside from making it harder to upgrade to a later release down the track, due to having to learn too many new things, Revit software as you are probably aware is unable to save down to previous releases so you can get left behind.
I am a one-man-band working on smaller residential type projects but have still succumbed to subscribing in order to keep up with the industry and be as efficient as possible, especially since I dont have a team of workers to do the more menial tasks for me!.
It is expensive though as many have complained about (particularly on the NZ$!) so can be a tougher choice for a small firm like myself.
As for the memory upgrade it will depend on how you use Revit to a certain extent and the type/size of projects you work on. You could always install 2009 and see how it goes. I have 2009 on my old laptop for doing some late night touch ups or easy tasks at home and it only has 512Mb of Ram!. I wouldnt use it for renders and do notice the difference but it is useful none the less. My current computer at work has 2Gb of Ram and works fine for me, since I havent found time to do any rendering yet, but I will upgrade to 4Gb when I can simply because I know the benefits of speed to increase efficiency. My IT guy was meant to put 4Gb in in the first place (over a year ago!) but didnt get around to ordering it and I havent hassled him yet.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
