Does anybody know how to convert a DWG from acad 2009 to acad 2007 without actually running the 2009 version?

Open the drawing using DWG TrueView 2009 and there is a DWG Convert Tool built-in that should be all you need.

AutoCAD 2009 is AutoCAD 2007 drawing version, maybe I dont understand your question.
2007, 2008, and 2009 are all the same drawing version, you should be able to open up any one of those 3 in any one of those three programs.

Can you tell I didn't have my coffee before I posted my reply?
Yes I concur, AutoCAD 2007, 2008, and 2009 save as 2007 file formats.
Last I heard the next format change is 2010 in 2009

2009 to 2007
well, yes the file format is the same, but many objects in 2009 operate differently, have additional properties/capabilities in 2009, and don't have exact equivalents in 2007. Mtext being one..... I can do more in 09 than in 07. That's good, but editing in 07 will not always give you the resuklts you expect or want.
Now if your talking verticals and inter-version compatability, fugetaboutit. c3d is only compatible with itself on the same version.
