View Full Version : Unable to Draw Drafting Lines in Elevation

Hi all,

Has anyone ever encountered this issue? I am unable to draw a Drafting line, in an elevation view. I'm certain that it's a regular elevation, and not a 3D view positioned orthogonally.

When I select the Detail Line tool, the cursor becomes that "Slash in a Circle" symbol, like in the Ghost Busters movie.

If I try to click, I get the following error, "Can't draw because Work Plan is at a very sharp angle in this view. Go to another view or redefine the Work Plane."

Which is odd, because I'm doing a detail line, not a Model line. So fine, I try to define a better work plane, one that is definitely parallel to my elevation view.

I still get the same error message. Anyone have any helpful tips?

Many thanks.

Bryan

Hi Bryan,

Check you elevation tag to see if the view is perpendicular to the model. I seem to remember a thread which noted that if the model was slightly off 90 degrees to the elevation view, that it might throw up these sorts of problems

Cheers,

Ian

I think I figured it out.

At some point, I rotated the project... True North vs. Project North.

The elevation views did not like the change. I recreated them and all is fine.

Thanks.
