I have been going through the subscription list of downloads and hot fixes, and have come across some confusing material. If I am reading this right, the hot fixes are used if you have this issue or have this version and so on. I don't mind doing it, but why didn't Autodesk make a patch that includes these fixes so we as users do not need to edit registry files? It bothers me that one or two clicks wrong and I could mess something causing more problems then I had. Well thanks for letting me vent and let me know if you know a better way of doing this or what fixes you got that improved performance.
Thanks Matt

Hotfixes are made available for specific fixes, generally when an 'Update' (service pack) is released in will also include previously released Hotfixes. Windows updates work in a similar way.

Update 1 is available now (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/index?siteID=123112&id=2334435&linkID=9240698), and Update 2 will probably be release soon as it has been for other 2009 products. The associated 'read me' will state which Hotfixes are included in an Update.

The Hotfixes and Updates are self running executable files (.exe) so I'm not sure what you mean by having to edit registry files.

SP are exe but some hotfixes are a dll file to replace an exising dll file and some tech doc will provide instructions to edit the registery for a fix, ex look at TS 1077666.

Just one that I know of off hand.
