the model I have been working on in Revit 2009 has been going black. If I am in an elevation view, the model looks normal, but when I zoom in oe out, the model becomes all black. Zoom in and out again, the model will reappear as normal then go black again. Same happens in 3D views. Haven't had it happen in paln view yet.

Any thoughts?

Problem with Open GL. Turn it off & make sure you have latest drivers, too.

Do you have a dense surface pattern on the wall?

I had this occur recently in 2009 as well. In detail views, selecting a component would cause a black-fill artifact around the chosen object. Deselect, zoom or pan and it is gone.

I was hoping this was just a quirk in the OpenGL. Closing and reopening the Revit session cleared up the mess. If it happens again I will turn off the OpenGL option.

We've had this happen, too. Except that once the model turns black, it never returns to normal, and usually crashes shortly thereafter. It only seemes to happen with files we create from a particular template, though. And only on certain machines. I'll have to try having people turn off OpenGL. When we deploy 2010, I'm going to re-create the template instead of migrating the 2009 one.

Don't know if this is the same problem we faced a while back in Revit 2008.

We had a similar issue on a model, and someone at Autodesk suggested we turn off all the CAD files linked to the model - and that worked. Apparently if you don't use the "in currrent view only" option when you import and you end up with too many CAD files, it causes a blacking out problem.

Since then, one of our office standards is to use "current view only" as a default, and to place all imported CAD plans, etc. on a "CAD Imports" workset that is turned off by default.

Hope that helps.
