So continuing the learning process from using separate site and building files linked together...

I created a toposurface in a site file, and I have that linked into my building file. All documentation is done in the building file, so I placed spot elevations on the linked topo in the building file.

Now back in the site file, I have the building linked in, and with the link set to By Linked View, with the view set to my grading plan, which contains the spot elevations. The problem is, only 3 of the 64 spot elevation instances are showing up in the linked building file. What could be causing this?

This will not answer your question on why some of your spot elevations aren't showing, but why don't you add the spot elevations on the building file (not on the site file), since this is the one where all documentation will be coming from... Just link the site and then add your spot elevations.

That is exactly what I'm doing. All my spots are in the building file.

The problem is stemming from a thread I created earlier yesterday about contour labels. Those cannot be in the building file, but must be in the file with the toposurface, for whatever reason.

Well, to get the placement of everything coordinated, so that I don't have spot elevations and contour labels overlapping, I need to be able to see both the contour labels and the spot elevations in both files.

I can see the contour labels from the linked site model in the building model just fine. However I found that I need to adjust a few of the contour labels to get them in between my spot elevations. So I open the site file, update the building link, and..... no spot elevations show up except only 3 of them! Why only 3, out of 64 labels in the grading plan? I don't get it!

Another issue is that I need to adjust some of the contours based on the actual elevations where I placed some of the spots. I really need to be able to see those spots in the site file to be able to adjust the topo accordingly.

Never came across this before. Have you tried changing the view range and clipping to see if more spot elevations showed up? If you can't get them to show but want to see their location so you can adjust the contour labels, add some temporary detail lines in your view, reload in your site, make your adjustments and then delete the detail lines. This is obviously a crutch, but if you're in a bind you can return to solve the issue later and get you moving in the meantime ;)
