I Wish I could import a 3-D Civil project into MEP without loosing the data and keeping the functionality intact and vise versa..

Gain the ability to use both products in unison.
Cuts down having to jump from one product to the next when site development is done on a large scale. Sure create your MEP Model and 3-D Site model in the native products yet have the ability to combine the models into one functional unit as a whole. Now that would be a powerful combination/product.

When you say "without loosing the data and keeping the functionality intact", what exactly does that mean? What data and functionality are you expecting and how would it be used/leveraged in AutoCAD MEP?

We're always looking for interoperability scenarios between products and I just want to gain a better understanding for future consideration.

Thanks,

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. When I do large scale site development and design. I rely on 2 main products. I use 3d-civil for site development, Storm, Sewer, Public Utilities all Civil Design. I use MEP, not revit mep, for the buildings, equipement, HVAC, Electrical, Asset management, etc... on a 40 acre site. I developed the site then I developed the building, etc..

Now I ask you what is the best way to display this project so that all the information is accessible in the model? Civil as well as MEP.

Please don't tell me MAVIS because this is not an option because of future plans and development for the model.

In the past when bringing in a Civil background you get proxy graphics or you can Xref. Data is untouchable either way. When bringing in a MEP model to Civil you get the same results.

See where I'm going with this. I need a realtime model. A composite of both worlds as one. No third party software. I need access to all the data in this composit model on the fly.

I feel I should be able to take this composit model and edit it wheather it be in the civil or mep program with no ill effects. As of now that is impossible. Now do you see loss of fuctionality. I hope this makes things clearer.
