After seeing client frustrations with a problem we have already solved, we have developed an architectural version of one of our proprietary design tools to share with the industry. Keynoting in Revit requires complicated use of text file formatting and organization. Unfortunately, the complexity of setting up, maintaining, and adding to the Revit keynote text files has kept many designers from using these features until now. Wright Engineers is offering our free licenses to use our propriety Revit Keynote Database program, which removes the complexity and enables you to focus on designing your project without having to become a text file coordinator and formatter. Visit www.wrightengineers.com/BIM to download this time saving tool.

The program doesn't work. I enabled the macro, then an error message that read "Compile error in hidden module: UserForm1" Is there something wrong I am doing?

This is a known issue with Vista and XP-64 bit operating systems. Are you using an operating system other than these? Hopefully this shall be fixed in the near future.

Also, what version of Office do you have installed?

This program has been tested successfully in office 2007 and 2003 in windows XP.

Thanks for trying it out and keep the feedback coming.

We were able to duplicate the compile error on some machines, but each was fixed by applying the latest Office service pack. This has been successfully tested on XP (32bit and 64bit) with Office 2003 SP3 and Office 2007 and Vista with Office 2007 and Windows 7 with Office 2007. Hopefully, the latest Office service pack will fix it on your machines as well.

we updated the program to address that issue as well so re-download the latest. (v1.03)
Thanks for the feedback!

I can get past the macro error, but everytime I open or merge keynote data. I can't read the full keynote number. If I click on the keynote number, I get a runtime error and the program crashes.

Any thoughts?

So that would be no support for Office 2002 then. :(

I also can get the run time error message. I am up to date with all service packs for Office 2003 and XP. Is there a maximum size for the "Note" area?

We are looking into this, if by "keynote number" you mean the contents of the keynote, Excel might have a 1024 max char limit.

It is currently set up to create a new customizable database with a new keynote structure only, merging with a previous txt file might not format correctly. It sounds like that might be the case for you.

-Thanks again for the feedback!

Yes that is correct the contents of the note. I think the .txt file that we use now has the same limitation of 1024 characters.
Yeah think that that is the issue. Is there a way to get rid of a keynote after you create it?

Thanks
John Fleming

That is correct, once I looked at the formatting of the "Architectural Revit Keynote Database" text file and reformatted my text file it works perfectly. Also is there a way to delete a keynote entry in the database editor or do you need to do that in the text file.

Thanks John Fleming

I get a Microsoft Visual Basic Run-time error every time I select an existing note. I can create new notes just fine.

Could someone who can make this work tell us what it exactly does. The documentation is very generic.

Is it worth looking at? Does is really help?

I don't know about this one as we were already developing our own when this came out. Ours is another alternative that goes about it a little differently. See http://forums.augi.com/showthread.php?p=953634

No prob :). We've been through several iterations in house, but I'm anxious to get some feedback from other offices. Download it and let me know what you think!
