Can a column attach to a roof like a wall? I think not... The only way I found was to add a solid to fill the gap... Is there something else? Should I edit the column family and add params like ref lines or planes etc???

I believe this should be done automatically, like the walls...

Yes you can attach to roofs.
If there is still a gap (this can happen If the roof is sloped) you can use the"Offset From Attachment At Top" parameter to adjust for any gaps.

When you select the column and pick attach from the options bar Revit will give you a number of options for how the column attaches to the underside of the floor/roof. There should be no gap issues if you use the correct option (maximum intersection in the case of a sloped roof)

Thanks, I can't believe I didn't check the options bar! After all, this is not the first column I want to attach! Well, I'm getting old...
