View Full Version : Detail Component Manager Issues

A new problem came up with the detail component manager...
Randomly, in a drawing that uses objects from the detail component manager, when I scroll over one of the components a warning pops up and says:
"Cannot open database C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\App Data\Autodesk\ACD-A2009\enu\Details\Details(US)\AecDtlComponents(US).mdb"
I can't edit it and I can't access the Component Manager either.
The only way around it was to copy that file from another computer and replace the one in my system. But this only worked temporarily and now it's back. I tried rebooting cad as well as my computer...no luck.
The computer just had Windows re-installed onto it due to a virus so everything should be fresh.
Any ideas?

Any ideas? This is still an issue, but on a couple machines. Even after we copy the file into the folder, it will work, but randomly stops working again anywhere from 20 minutes to a day after.

I would make sure that you have all the service packs installed, both for ACA & Windows.
Next I would try to take the drawings that are having issues and try to copy and paste everything into a new drawing started from a template. That usually fixes most "Glitches" that occur in ACA from time to time.
If that still doesn't fix the issue, I'd send the file or create one that you can duplicate the issue with and send it off to Adesk support to see if they find some type of a programming error.
Just a thought.

Thanks for the tips, I'll have to double check on the updates.
It's just really random how it happens. It will happen 5 times in one day and if you reboot cad it will go away every time but eventually come back, but then other times it won't happen for a few days. And even the drawings are random because it's not always the same drawing. It's just two machines. Maybe it has something to do with XP...the two machines it's on happens with them, but my specific machine is on Vista and I haven't had the issue yet *knock on wood*

Okay, still have the same issue...it never actually went away. It is happening on two computers running Windows XP and ACD Architecture 2009. I will send the issue to Autodesk, but I figured I should try here anyway just in case.

I did hear from one person (former instructor at a Tech School - just re-freshed all their hard ware) that was running revit on a new HP workstation (last year's version) that was having crashing issues. Workstation was supposed to be Adesk certified. The local Adesk resellers came in, couldn't fix the problem. They ended up sending one of the workstations with all the software loaded on it out to HP and found an issue with the Ram the HP was using. I doubt this is your issue.
Are you running older versions on the same workstation? Depending on the order in which they were installed, this can have ill-effects.
