IF they are Drafting patterns, No, and I believe you are refering to when the Topo is cut in section? If so, Revit requires you to use a Drafting pattern.

Actually , i meant the topo being cut by the (level) view cut plane. The two surfaces are contiguous.

Drafting patterns always align, no matter what.

Can you post a screen shot of the issue you're having?

Patrick, yes, the drafting patterns align automatically!
I was misguided by an overlaid transparent pattern.
