Hi all,
Is there a way to have the ceiling/soffit above show in a floor plan view as dashed line work? I know I read a lot of threads on this but dont remembaer a solution, Even a work around would be great...anything.
Thanks,
Dan

You can turn on an Underlay in the Floor Plan view, set it to Reflected Ceiling type.
You can then trace the ceiling shape with dashed model lines, lock them to the ceiling
shape/outline and turn off the underlay.

I would use the underlay, but wouldnt bother tracing it. If the underlay graytoned lines arent sufficient, i would place a ceiling plan on the sheet, on top of the floor plan. Then just use a View Template or VV/VG to tell the ceiling plan to have everything halftoned, dashed linetype, and transparent, etc.

Here is the best method:
Turn on the underlay for the ceiling plan, and then use the Linework tool to change the ceiling/soffit outline to the dashed overhead line type. Then turn the underlay off, and the dashed lines will remain. They're not drafting or model lines, but actually projections of the edges of the object above. So if you edit the ceiling or soffit, those lines will automatically update.

Also a great method. I was ASSuming a 2x4 ceiling, with a billion lines to click on/trace, and was just trying to avoid that, haha...

Eh I wouldn't want to show all that in a floor plan. But I do use this method all the time to indicate the limits of roof overhangs, soffits, covered canopies, etc. that are above the floor plan view. Works pretty well.
