transparancy in shaded elevations?

I was under the impression that in Revit 2009 I can get transparancy in shaded elevations.
how do I enable that?

The only way to achieve that is to use a 3D view oriented to an orthogonal view. (View > Orient > to other view)
Transparency is only possible in 3D views.
