I'm very impressed, it just began, and there are over 300 people viewing this webcast; interoperability Revit and AutoCAD!!!

Some familiar names in the attendees list, too!

I thought 300 was a very good turnout. For a 1 hour web cast, I thought the information was very thorough and well presented. I think I'll get a speaker phone :-)

I too was impressed with the turnout. The session though is definately geared towards new users and those thinking about trying. The nice thing about watching even the beginner type training is you pick up how the factory expects you to work. I bet the instructor wished he could have shown how to use the pick tool in 7.0 to place walls instead of tracing over them.

One thing to be careful about: Watch out for lines that are not quite vertical or horizatal in the dwg. You know the kind of lines I'm talking about - where you get thier properties in acad and the lines are.00004 %%d off from ortho! If you create Revit objects like Lines, Grids (and now Walls in 7.0) by Picking these kind of <bad> imported lines, you can get into "Garbage In - Garbage Out" problems later on....

One of my biggest ACAD pet peeves...that and endpoints not connecting or lines going off into infinity in the z-axis...

ACAD people are not used to seeing their drawings any other way but in plan. When I get an acad dwg I usually turn it on edge to see how bad it is in the z axis. Acad never really produced a good utility to make z coordinates zero. All the "flatten" utilities I've seen are buggy. And most of them can't get "inside" blocks.

Be great if someone could notify this forum whenever a Revit webcast becomes available on autodesk.com.

Tatlin, I know exactly what you are talking about. We started to instruct people to trace and hold down the shift key to make sure we were getting true hor/vert. walls. Thanks for the heads up.

I wonder where I can download the recorded webcast. A newbie like me need to see it again and replicate the exciting Revit feautures that was shown last Oct.14,2004.
