Text Problem

Does anyone know if you can reduce the size of the text selection box in the vertical direction? Or is there way a to send the text to the back of the display order. Please take a look at the logo screen capture attached. The text over rides and blanks out the graphics below. Is it possible to adjust the display priorities by chance?

Create a new text style (or just change the exising one) and make it transparent instead of opaque.
