Summary: The ability to turn off creation of unique layers, block names, etc.

Description: I would like the ability to turn off or on the creation of unique layers, block names, line types. When inserting xrefs. Similar to reference edit settings.

How Used: The creation of unique types when attaching/overlaying seems to cause more problems than it solves. Instead of turning off 1 layer you have to turn off multiple layers instead of having to redefine multiple blocks you would only have to redefine 1 door block..

The alternative way of doing this would be for wblocks to retain there inserted path which then could be reinserted manually or automatly (see Sketchup)

Feature Affinity: XREF

Please clarify.
How would you have two layers with different properties but a common name?
Or blocks or any other symbol table entity?

Assuming I'm reading you correctly ... you want the ability to attach / overlay an xref. But similar to inserting a DWG as a block, you simply want the layers to be normal layers (not with the XRef prefix).

Basically the same idea as when binding with the Insert option instead of the Bind option.
