Large plt Files with Acad2005

I am mainly using plot to file when producing hard copies of my work. The problem started when I installed the 2005 version of Acad. It creates plot files of 3 times the size compared to the ones created with Acad2000i.
My plotter (and plotter driver) is an HP Design Jet 750c plus. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?

Do you use solid fills/hatches? Autodesk changed the amount of triangles generated by solid fills, increasing the size of plot files.
