is there a way to save the selection box in different locations. It would be nice to quickly isolate a stair and stair shaft for instance. Or to quickly go through and show someone else conflicts or problem areas. Thanks.

Have you tried using schedules?

No. Can you give me an idea how I would do that?

A Revit schedule works like database query.
You can use it to select your objects based on sort and filter criteria.
When you select the rows of a schedule, you are selecting the related objects.
That's it.

OP: you're referring to the section box in 3D views I believe, not the "selection box" which I guess would be the box you make when you click and drag the mouse to select multiple objects.

You can save as many section box views as you want. You just have to create a new 3D view for each one. Simply go to a 3D view, turn on the section box in the view properties, and adjust it as needed. Then right-click and duplicate that view, rename it, and then move the section box to somewhere else. Repeat for as many areas as needed.
