View Full Version : Revit crashes when moving a Tag

We have a file that is making Revit to crash, it happens when you try to move a TAG, it started with some equipment tags, it allows you to tag the element but when you click on the tag and try to move it Revit crashes.
As I mentioned before it happened with equipment tags and also with ceiling tags.
The weird thing is that this is not happening all the time, it lets you do it for a while and suddenly starts happening again, this is really frustrating because a task that could take minutes takes hours to do.
We have audited the file and it does not show any errors.
We are using Revit 2008,
I will appreciate any help,
Thanks a lot,
Oscar

Are you working on plans that you are activating through a Sheet? Are they dependant views?

Hello Scott,
Yes, they are dependent views and we are also activating the views though the sheet.
Thanks a lot

Revit 2008 had an issue with working on dependent views through the sheets. There were two "solutions" to the issue.
1) Do not work through activating the views on the sheet
2) HAve the "parent" of the dependent views open in the background. This along solves the issue of it locking up.
This entire issue went away with Revit 2009. I thought it went away with the last build for 2008 as well.

I have seen that happen with 2008 while working with dependent views and activating them within the sheet. Haven't seen it with 2009.

Is it just tags, or will it crash if you grab a door and try to *slide* it up and down the wall as well?
Grabbing and moving stuff seemed to make the graphics-card-and-driver-related-crashes more prevalent on our systems. Try it with some modeled objects, (use press-and-drag... which i normally despise). If its STILL crashing, try a new driver for the Vid card.
BUT, sounds like prolly the Dep. view thing Scott is talking about...

Oscar
