View Full Version : Curved Beams in Elevation. Why does it do this?

Hi

I'm using RST '09

I'm trying to draw curved steel beams in elevation. They're curving in the vertical access.
They're of different radii so i have to draw them individually & join them up.

OK, here's the problem. For ease of explanation, imagine it's a circle. If I draw a curve on the up half of the circle the setting out point is on the outside edge of the beam, but if I do the same on the lower semi-circle it puts it on the inside. So the beams don't meet.

It doesn't matter if I draw the clock or counter clock wise & unfortunately there's no flip option.
Also, when drawing the second beam it won't snap to the opposite corner that the drag dot is on.

Is there an easy way around this?

I wouldn't call this a bug but it's definitely appears to be an oversight. A flip option is required.

Hi,
Check the Lateral Justification of the beams. If you set it to center it should line up.

Thanks for the reply. As soon as I woke up this morning I realised that's what i needed to do.

I assume you meant z direction justification as I'm drawing it in section/elevation.
