Revit 2010 and space navigator

Does anyone know if Revit 2010 will be compatible with the space navigator mouse?

No idea to your question. I hope there is a Beta soon for subscribers. With the new Ribbon Menu it is going to take some getting prepared to get the entire office ready and familiar. How bout it Autodesk?? Please?

Is 2009 compatible with the Space Navigator mouse? One of our Revit users wants to get one and I'm assuming that since you're asking the question, that means it is not compatible...

The last thing i heard from the guys at 3Dconnexions (and this WAS more than 6 months ago), they had said there was an issue with the way their devices work, and compatibility with the Revit API. They needed to access more, or acces it differently, or something.

Bottom line, i dont think theyre compatible yet. Or at lesat, i dont think they work the way theyre supposed to.

Its a shame, we had them at my old job when we ysed Digital Project, and they were awesome. The macro buttons would be amazing in Revit, if we could program them to do more things than just the keystroke commands...

Well, looks like we are going to have to wait another year or so for the space navigator. Does Autodesk have anything to do with this, or it is just a problem from the 3D Conexion guys?. It would super great if both parts get together and work something out. I saw the space navigator work with Sketchup and it was just awesome.

I am just waiting for the compatibility with Revit to get one.

So does that completely replace the mouse? Or do you switch between it and the mouse when using other programs?

Reminds me of the control wheel on the center console of current-generation BMW 7-series cars :)

Its supplemental, or at least... Thats how we used it. We put them on the left side of the keyboard, and manuevered the views in Dig. Proj. with the SpacePilot and our left hands while we were clicking on things and adjusting the model with the mouse in our right...

I dont think you could replace a mouse with it, nor do i think its intended for that...

Doesn't appear to work with Revit 2010... so I requested that 3DConnexion support it with Revit. This is what I got back from them: (Note: Let Autodesk know if you want this supported. The more feedback they get, the higher a priority this becomes..)

would like to see as well. At this time, Autodesk needs to enable the
support on their side as the current programming environment in Revit is
not sufficient for us to do the work.

Autodesk listens and values customer feedback. Letting them know of
your request may help them prioritize this feature.

I actually have some sort of hacked GUI that at least makes it possible to program keystrokes to my little spacenav. I think it's called "RBC9 - SpaceDriver." Someone put quite a lot of effort into designing the interface... It's a little iffy, but I can get some stuff to work. I believe it was an open-sourced thing... see attached. this is NOT something that comes with the Spacenav...

Well, better late then never, they say. Now that the 2012 release of Revit has been announced, you finally get your wish!

Revit Architecture, Revit MEP, and Revit Structure all support the 3d Connexion SpacePilot and SpaceNavigator. Dig that bad boy out, plug it in, and fire it up!

Once you actually get your hands on Revit 2012, of course ;)

I've been using mine for a while now along with the beta release, and it's amazing. The ease of navigation through a model is really unparalleled with my little SpaceNavigator. It is a great addition to Revit.
