I am trying to add a pneumatic tube sytem to a project i'm working on and I have it drawn in revit MEP 2009 as piping. My main project is linked into the mep file origin to origin, but when i try to link the mep file back into the main project I can't see anything. I can see why you wouldn't normally want all the piping and ductwork to show up, but I'd like to have these tubes visible in my plans and sections. MEP has totally different categories for visibility so can anyone give me an idea of how to do this?
thanks

In Visibility Settings, try setting it to Custom instaed of By Host View.

You can then go into the visibility of the linked file and turn on the piping.

Does that work?

That's where i was confused. MEP has all the piping and mechanical categories, but the visibility dialog for the linked model in revit architecture still shows the architectural categories. I went back and acquired shared coordinates for the piping model and that seemed to work out. for some reason the drawing origins weren't the same even though I started off the linked architecture model.
antoher question on linking models though, is there a way to globally turn off levels in linked models? sometimes I'm trying to adjust a detail view and there's a level line from the linked model that sticks out past the rest of the drawing. I know I can override by view, but I'd like to be able to just turn them all off at once.

You can turn off levels ( or any other category) in the method described in my 1st
reply. Set Visibility to Custom--turn off what you need in the linked file.

Try setting the view in the MEP model to Coordination, instead of the Discipline it is in now.
