Revit Groups

The issue that i have is that when i import a revit file as a group into my project, it comes in as 1 group as it should. I then clicked save at the end of the day and exited the application. But when i opened teh file the next morning the 1 group had been separated into 2 groups. Any ideas why this happens because now when i want to update the group there is nothing in it.

So the group is losing information and splitting or is it just splitting into two different groups once it was loaded as one group?

it doesn't lose information it just splits into two groups. But when i edit the group in its own file then it appears empty and seems to have lost all of the elements within the group.
