Yet another Oval Duct question

I heard from a colleague of mine that Revit cannot connect anything besides two circles or two rectangles which is why flat oval families and fittings are impossible to create. He also said that this is the reason why one wouldn't be able to connect for example, two ducts with triangular cross sections. Does anyone have any comments on this?
