New Steel placement fighting Existing Demo

Having a problem placing New Steel in the near general area of Existing steel that is Demo.

Need to kept both models in project, but I am getting Join failures beacause the Existing Demo is interfering with the Newsteel connection Intelligence...

Tried putting the steel on a separate workset and suppress in view...no luck

Any ideas.

How are you categorizing what is new/existing?
Do you have the existing framing placed in an existing phase and the new steel on a new construction phase?

Yes, all steel is phased correclty. The view with the new steel is set to show only new in New construction.


When I place the new steel it detects the existing steel and causes join failures..Beacause there are so close.
