OK - can anyone shed some light on what could be going on here?

I have a group of Type G Light fixtures. I want to add the G1 Type to the same group. It is the same familiy as the Type G, just 48" long instead of 96". So I edit the Group and click to add elements to the group. It lets me pick all the Type G1 fixtures and turns them gray one by one as I add them.

I finish editing the group, and Revit refuses to add the Type G1 fixtures to the group because they are "not consistent with the group type definition". WTF. How much more consistent does it get? They're the same family! on the same workplane!

Of course, Revit "Help" doesn't even know what the phrase "group type definition" is. That was no help, so I turn to the superior minds of the AUGI forums...

Thanks,
Wes

1. Is this group located on another level, or similar place, in the project?

2. Is the family from the stock Revit family?

If not you are at the mercy of the famly's creator. Verify the family.
- Open it up and "flex" it. change between the types and see if anything werid happens.

- Insert the family (96") by itself in the model (no group). The change it to the (48"). I would make the change in section.

I work with a lot of groups, and 9 out of 10 problems always seem to be with lighting!!

I hope this helps!
