View Full Version : Wall Type Changing at door ?

Okay. This is weird. I have basic wall type (metal stud w/ gyp both sides). When I cut a section, it looks perfect. However, if I place a door in the wall and then cut a section through the wall at the door, it becomes a solid gyp wall. Has anyone else come across this? If so, any ideas on how to fix it?

I have attached an image showing the wall (tagged H3 to show they are the same wall type) with and without a door.

Settings info - Revit 2009 x64 build 20081118_1045(x64), 1/8" = 1'-0" with medium detail hidden line view.

IT seams to have to do with one of a couple of things. Is the Wall set to wrap at openings?
Does the door family itself have one or more planes designated as defining where a wall is to wrap to?

Look into those, reworking a door family for this solve a similar problem where it was occuring in plan views.

I had 2 planes in plan view that were marked as wall closure. I cleared that setting, but to avail. I also had the wrap at ends and insertions both turned on, which I have also cleared. Still no change.

I think you might be on to something, but I am not sure what to fix or where?

okay, so even weirder. I noticed that this wall attached to a roof at the top. I detached it and my wall is fixed. What is there about the roof that would cause the cleanup between a door and a wall to be messed up?

Okay. So I detached from the roof and found out that the wall was only 8' tall unconnected. I told it to go up to the roof level and then re-attached it to the roof. Problem solved. Although I don't get it, hopefully it can help someone else in the future.

depending on how it is setup, we have had issues with the depth cut and inserting families into objects like walls, maybe the clip depth is causing some issue??????
