How do I put the text from a dimension under the line?
I am unable to offset the text with a negative number and our contract requires dim text to be under the dimension line.
Thanks

I don't believe Revit provides a way to automate this.

Maybe I don't understand your question but if you double click the dimension, the dimension text dialog box opens with a variety of text field and override options including Above, Below, Prefix and Suffix.

Unfortunately no. You can't use a negative value for the text offset.

Yeah, but that's only for adding text and not to have the actual dimension value under the dimension string.

Actually if you REALLY want it you could create a font with the right offset.

I don't understand?
What do you mean create a font with the right offset?
Thanks

You can create (or modify) your own font type.

Which is fine, as long as he doesnt need to provide DWG's or some other electronic format to someone who isnt going to have that new font that he made.... Otherwise his drawings are going to look........... :)

In this case all they have to do is remap the font

ok
That is a good idea and one that I will play with just to see. But Twiceroadsfool has a point.
This project will be translated into ACAD and rebuilt with xrefs to meet goverment standards. (I get the joy of this task) I am thinking it is going to take me a week to rebuild these files in ACAD with proper xrefing.
Don't ask me why we are doing this because I have yet to understand myself and it is a long story. I just get paid to do what I am told and this is what they pay me for so I am told...
Guys, thank you for your help

Cadman-
This subject came up on the forums about two weeks ago: Review those government standards VERY carefully about how that AutoCAD set of documents has to be put together. if theyre that steadfast about it, you might as well (literally) DO the job in AutoCAD.
Revit DWG exports are fine for backgrounds and base drawings, but if youre going to be held to the traditional AutoCAD way of BUILDING DWG's, your clients will end up either very upset, or youll end up grossly over budget.
For instance: In a traditional CAD DWG world, every instance of "Light fixture X" would be the same block, for ease of editing. Thats not always (or ever?) the case in a RVT export. With file links, it gets ever worse.
Itll take a LOT longer than you think to clean those files up to Government Industry Standard AutoCAD DWG's. Something VERY seriously to think about...

I wish we did do the job in ACAD but that was not my call but is my problem...
Lucky me.
