Revit gives great rendering output....but the without Trees and Plants and proper foliage depth, it does't look as nice as it supposed to look.
What software do you guys use to get all that vegetation?

You can use a program like photoshop to bring them in, it gives you pretty good results depending on your photoshop abilities, but probably the best thing to be using out there is 3ds Max. You can look up some information on it on the Autodesk website, or probably around these forums too.

Good Luck

The best solution is rpc content. Revit comes with dozens of trees and plants in rpc format and you can buy more. Other than that you'll need to export to max or add in photoshop.

RPCs are pretty good in Revit.

Also, look at Piranesi--for post-rendering effects, 3D depth awareness
from 3D models, hand-drawn/painted techniques, "cut-outs" which adjust
scale for proper size according to perspective, etc.

cheers.................

I Have used RPC and that is the problem....When Revit Applies radiosity, the RPC's wash out and do not give any realistic depth....Meaning, the Trees have no shadow effect nor 3d effect....Like getting darking at the bottom due to shades, as well as does not cast shadows properly.....unless I am doing something wrong....
Other then that, how do you enhance images in Photoshop?

Using Max plus Vue 7. Did this images in one hour. Just for demo. The grass also generated by Vue in Max.

This is too much.... Buy Max, Buy Vue Xstream etc...

If you want to buy MAX, then the cheapest and best solution is ForestPack Pro, from www.itoosoft.com. You use planes so you have lighter model to render... Also, you can use 3d models of trees for the closeups which can be placed as instances, automatically from Forestpack... There will be a beta soon with better handling of instances and proxy objects for MentalRay and Vray...
You can try the free version it is a great product!

In a multi-million project, 3dsmax + Vue is just a small investment compared to its return. IMHO.

To buy software is not an investment that automatically starts to give back money... You have to learn the software and you have to take jobs that justify the time and money spent.
I was talking for myself, I most of the times deal with small projects... Actually I don't like to buy many big apps, because I find myself trapped in subscriptions and upgrades... Since you buy MAX, then the next app should be a plugin for Max, If you buy Revit, there should be something for Revit... That's why API is so important... The main investment is Revit and the next app should work with Revit and be a lot cheaper...

RPC content is just a set of sprites, unfortunately. Accurenderer RPC trees are a lot more sophisticated but they don't work with Revit.
One could import a true 3D DXF tree but that takes way too much of your memory, slowing everything else down.

Either way, the new Revit RPC content is a good start but if you want great renderings then you should use a software product specialised at renderings, be ready to spend the bucks, and have someone on your team who has experience with it or is willing to spend time in gaining that experience.

Wow that grass looks amazing... but the dirt, not so much :p

Oh wait, I see that the "dirt" is the thickness of your ground layer.

A nice solution for mental ray fans would be a GUI for mental ray standalone, where you could use everything you want, and have Revit model imported automatically.... Standalone renderers with UI are the best choise... Examples are Maxwell Render, Fryrender, Kerkythea etc...

Hey there,
For a little "out of the box" thinking out loud....
One option may be to use the AR plug in for RAC2009 to render just your trees and plants.
You could use "Design Options" to swap your RPC trees with your AR trees for any particular view.
Render both and then place your AR rendered trees in your MR rendering with Photoshop.
You would have to play a bit, but the MR trees will still cast some shadows.
Just a thought.
Good luck
