How can I make this face based, and have a symbol?

I'm basically trying to make a wall mounted fitting as attached, but I want it to be face based. The only way I've found to do that is to build it up on the side so that the reference level is the same as the wall on the side.

Problem is that I need to put a symbol on the top, but the top is now the front.... meaning i can't add a symbol.....


Any suggestions??

I'm not too fond of the idea of setting my light as a device rather than a fixture, mainly because of tagging problems, and the fact that every other light in the project will be a fixture.

May have no choice though.
