We have just started using Revit Structure 2009 in the last couple weeks with one week of training. We have been using the architects bim as our background and inserting our headers in a wall that we made. the problem we are having is in order to see the window opening, and the header, we need to put the header in the window in order for it to show in the drawing and then set our cut plane at the window...and not for sure what primary range bottom and view depth level really do, we are quite confused on them. See attached file. We set the headers 1/8-1/4" into the window to get what we are looking for. We set the Primary Range as follows Top - Truss Brg - 0'-6", Cut - Truss Brg- -2'-8", Btm - Truss Brg - -3'-0"..and then for the view depth...Level Truss Brg - -3'-0"...this is just what we came up with to get the look we wanted...any ideas??

In an elevation view create a new level somewhere between the top of your openings and the bottom of your openings in this levels plan view in the view properties - edit/new create a duplicate plan view under the type parameters chang the view direction to read up. Next you want to set your view range so that it has a top and a depth plane offset that reads far enough to see the trusses, leave your cut plane offset at 0.
