Text Sketch Help

Hello - I'm looking for help using the "text sketch" option located under Sketch Solving (command "AMTEXTSK") for a 3D model. I essentially have a tube as my part and want to sweep embossed text onto the face of the tube (kind of like a LifeSaver candy - sorry for the cheap symbolism). Currently, I can locate the text on the plane/face of the tube, but when I try to sweep the text, I do not get this option until after the text is created. When I edit the text in the Desktop Browser, only "extrude" & "revolve" are options. Loft, Sweep, Bend, Rib, etc. are blanked out and not selectable. Any idea why? Any other tricks to get swept text easily? I'm also using the default "amdtpp" menu.
