Hi

I have created a 'Railing' in Revit 6.1 and it seems to work properly if I place on the slab edge but when I attach the same railing to a Staircase it behaves little different i.e. the verticals are no longer attached to the flat rails at the top and bottom. Interestingly, when I flip the railing so that it is away from the edge of the staircase flight, it works perfectly.

I have attached couple of Images and the Revit project, for someone to 'doctor' it or to explain me....why?

Do I miss something?

I ran into the same porblem once. Turned out the baluster was not created using the templete which sets the top and bottom slope for use with stairs.

When creating a baluster for use with stairs, there are two angled reference planes that are used to represent the slope of the stair, on level ground these angles become 0. You need to add voids at the top and bottom of the baluster and lock them to these reference planes.

Check out the metric baluster that comes with revit to see what i mean.
