Custom Window Family Plan Views

If someone has a minute to look at this family I'm working on to help me figure out why it doesn't seem to be displaying correctly in the plan views, I would really appreciate it.

I'm using a window family to create a window shade with wood sill and a wall with a sweep to make a gyp board cove. No matter what I do to the view range, it looks like I see the wood sill in the RCP. I've also modeled room-darkening channels that run up the sides of the 'window' that don't seem to be showing up at all.

Everything looks correct in the 3D view...

I'd appreciate any help.

I was hoping for a more automatic method, and I think I found one.

I made both the shade element and the sill element into nest, shared families. This way even though the window element is cut, the sill and the shade don't show up unless they would actually be seen in the view.
