area's how do you get them

having a rather puzzling time trying to use area's
just need the basic areas of living area, garage, decks, and drivways of one story house. but can seem to get the info

so far using
view/new/area plan/
rentable/floor plan

draw the area and then?????

Draw the Area Boundary lines, then place an Area object, and, if it's not already Tagging on placement, then place a tag. Or create an Area schedule.

The boundary lines are just that - containers to tell the Area object what its extents are.

Then use the area tag to tag it and read the area for you. Or if you are using rooms, just use a room tag that shows room name and room area, if that works for you.

A quick and dirty way of finding the area of something is to trace a filled region or masking region over the area you want. The properties of the completed region will report the area.
