I know, I'm back again. But, I have inserted a door w/one side lite . . . and it is coming up with a custom door size at 3'-4". I can't change it or reinsert it to create a 36" door instead. Does anyone know how to do this? (I'm ready to return to 2000.)

Does selecting the door object
right-click >Edit Door Style not work?
Since you are needing it now, it would
be logical to add it to your style library
at this point as well.

Are you using a door/window assembly to model your door with sidelight? You can not edit the size of a door used as an infill panel in a door/window assembly directly - it expands to fill the cell. You need to edit the door/window assembly - either directly in the style, or you could do an in-place edit on screen.

Yes, my edit door style works, but like dkoch says, the door size wouldn't budge. I have been in and out of door/window assemblies many times trying to get these door and sidelights to show up right. They come up with double frames and the window only looks correct if I cancel the frame and thicken the sash. With one sidelight, I can't get it to look like there is a single frame between lites and door and wall, something always looks wrong. Should I be using curtain wall instead? dkoch, what do I change to get the door right? Am I changing the infill panel? I thought the infill panel was showing where the side lite is, are there several? When I change the layer's colors, extra frames show up!

If you are putting Doors into a Door/Window Assembly [DWA] and want to avoid the double frame [one from the Door and one from the DWA], you will want to set up door styles with the frame width set to 0. If you already have a Door Style - that has a frame - that you want to use in a DWA, open the Style Manager, make a copy of the Door Style, rename the copy in some meaningful way [so you know it has no frame and will not accidentally use it for a stand-alone door], then edit the style and set the width to 0.
I think a DWA is what you want for your single sidelight. A Curtain Wall object will not cut the wall for you like a DWA will and the interface is just as challenging. I would not use a Window Style as infill for the borrowed light, assuming that you are drawing an interior door with a fixed glass panel in the borrowed light.
The attached file shows two DWA's. The one on the left uses the out-of-the-box [in ADT2004, anyway] "Hinged Single 3-0x6-8 Left + Sidelight" style. I believe these were originally set up with framed doors, as it claims that the door width is 3'-0" but it is in fact 3'-4", which would allow for two, 2"-wide door frames in the opening. The one on the right is a modified version of the out-of-the-box style - "Hinged Single 3-0x6-8 Left + Sidelight - Real 3-0 door opening". Here is what I did:
1. Design Rules Tag: Changed "Default Mullion" mullion size from 1" x 4" to 2" x 5". My work is all commercial, and I am setting this up as a hollow metal frame with sidelight. The intermediate "mullion" between door and light is the same basic profile as the outer frame [in reality, it would have a stop on both sides, rather than a stop and an open back to receive the partition, but I am not trying to model all that here.
2. Design Rules Tab: Changed the "Base Panel" infill panel thickness to 5", to match frame depth.
3. Design Rules Tab: Changed the "Default Division" division to set Gridline 1 to be offset 3'-3" from grid start. This is calculated as the 2" frame width + the 3'-0" door opening + 1" for half the width of the mullion. Note that there is no frame offset for this style, so the entire frame is within the outer gridlines; the mullion has no offset as well, so it will be centered on its gridline.
4. Display Properties Tab: At the "Drawing Default" level [depending upon your needs, you might want to do this at the style level - depending upon how many different DWA styles you have and how many need to show thresholds and how many do not], I turned off both the Sill A and Sill B components in the Sill Plan Display Representation and turned on the Below component in the Plan Display Representation. This shows the "Base Panel" below the borrowed light but removes the lines at the door opening, which is just the way I want to see it [your needs may vary].
