family name appears in schedule

when i'm creating schedule for windows or doors the family name appears no matter what and i can only change the type name. I need to rename windows or doors according to my own code. because the window dealer doesn't recognise Revit terms
Is there a way??? Or i'm stuck with names applyed by Revit?????????????????

You would rename the family file itself (.RFA) files. Then you'd have to open that renamed file, and rename each type within the family to match what you want it to say.

I have to ask, why get the Name/Type in the schedule at all? Just add a couple of project parameters applied to windows in your project, then schedule the size, additional parameters for window frame material etc. and walk away. Why do the dealer's job for him?

I second Scotts suggestion. Especially since my Revit Family Names come out something ugly.... LOL
