Now, now, everyone -- if Scott's talking about the 10 October build, I would just wait until the public release is out. The display subsystem seems to have changed again and it's causing some hiccups on our laptops with ATI cards. The info in the help file doesn't jive with what's in the Options dialog box for display settings, so I think they're still tweaking things in that department. Remember guys, anything good is worth the wait!

I went to the SCRUG meeting at WATG in Newport Beach last night. Christie Landry and Amy (last name escapes me! sorry!) from Autodesk Revit were there to show us 7.0. They gave us the tour of 7.0, everything from Building Maker to legends, to the new vertorial shawdows. The room at WATG was packed, with many new faces, including a person from Richard Meier's office. I'm told they have a few seats of Revit, and are looking to expand use in their office.

The new UI enhancements are very nice, from the visibility controls at the bottom of the drawing window, to the Properties dialog boxes where parameter 'groups' can be expanded/contracted to save space.

Nested family parameter control is really cool! Nest a transom window into a door family. Now tie the transom window width parameter to the door width parameter. Change the door width, and the transom goes with it. Further, you can nest door hardware, etc into a door, and they will schedule. One door family could contain all the differnet hardware you use. Pop the doors in your model, and turn on the appropriate hardware for that door.

So wafter they showed us the new features, and the meeting was wrapping up, Christie let me sit at her laptop for a bit and mess around with some of the new tools! I played with the all new massing tools, and curtain wall tools. Oh, and I used the new Resize tool! Draw a room, select the room, hit resize, and stretch the room to the new size!

So I don't have it loaded on my machine yet.....but I'm told that it will be ready for download 'very soon!'

Scott,

I have now downloaded the new version and would like to make a Legend but the direction in the Help files seem to be a little vague. Is there a better place to goto online or are there any tutorials?

Thanks,

Bob

Yes. There is a specific tutorial regarding Legends. There is also one for Revision Tracking. Open the online tutorials and go to the Update Tutorials section.

BTW: You can download an Update Tutorial pdf from the documents website. The pdf has only the update tutorials in it. 4mb/200 pages.
