Hi All.
Firstly I would like to thank all the help that I have recieved over in the Revit API help section over the last month or so. These forums are amazing. :)
Below is a link to a couple of video screen captures that we have been working on lately. This calculator is something that we have used in Architectural Desktop for the last couple of years but as we have shifted over to using Revit we have now ported it to Revit. I must say it works so much better in Revit that what it did in ADT.

Any comments welcom.

Awsome presentation.
Is this API specific for NZ or can it applied overseas?
Where can I get a copy?

Hi.
Yes this has been specifically written for NZ Standard 3604 Timber Framed Buildings. I notice that you are in Australia. We have had other requests for an Australian version and we are looking into that now. We are intending to release the NZ version at the end of April once it has been updated for Revit 2010.

Hi Phillip,
That looks very impressive. Are you able to give an idea of cost for that plug-in yet?
Cheers,
Dean.

Also I'd look into UK standards for this API as I know that it would be applicable there as well. A graphic representation of the framing studs in plan at Fine display would be an improvment. As would custom lintel selection based on host profiles, similar to CATNIC or IG types. Overall a great API product.

Very nice work you have done. Will your API add Lintals across those windows or just calculation on schedule?

Wow that is cool... what else can it do besides calculate the window lintels? I'd love to try a version of that adapted to International Building Codes (2003, 2006, etc).

Thanks for your comments. We are still working through how much to charge for this.

No at this stage it only calculates values in a schedule. May this can be something added in Version 2 :)

Other than lintels over doors and windows, it can calulate any timber memeber out of our code such as floor joists, bearers, rafters etc. It also calculates wall framing including top and bottom plates. It calculates bracing and some other specific NZ code requirements such as E2 risk matrix. Maybe we need to look into International Building Codes (2003, 2006, etc as well :) at a future date.
Hey Phillip, great stuff!
Maybe you could pitch it to Autodesk (ie sell it to them) so it can be incorporated into the NZ content as standard in the future?. I am sure most NZ companies using revit would have a use for it (even larger commercial project firms use NZS3604 on occasion) which would indicate it could be useful to come as standard rather than as a plug in. I realise this maybe a more long term goal however.
You could then develop it for other countries also with some countries only ever needing it as a separate 3rd party plug in and others as standard based on how much it is picked up.
Of course this could also just be me thinking that it would be nice to come standard rather than paying for it! haha. Until I expand from my current one-man-band company I have to evaluate my overheads quite carefully against output! ;-)
Seriously good potential there though, well done.

Very good work already, keep me posted while you release your API and the cost of that. i am personally interested, but not sure what my boss think.
if you don't mind, keep in touch with me, we might can form up join projects about API development. I personally have some idea for API to enhance workflow in Revit, but I am not really a programer, so get a lot to learn. I am reading a lot of reference books, most of them are about SQL and C#. I have some experience about programing in high school, but that is long time ago. The basic thoery about programing still remember, but the actual practical side is very rusty.

Hi All.
I have just posted an updated Vid to
http://www.screencast.com/t/eglCYU6qW
Which shows our code calculator interacting with Revit walls and changing them to the required size.
Cheers

I thought that you might be interested in this short Video.

We now have this pretty much working, just need to fully test it before we release it.
Cheers
