If your family has instance parameters, once loaded in the project you can tab to the surface that is defined by the parameter and drag it to the desired length.
An example: if your window family's width is a instance parameter, tab to the side of the window, select it, and drag it to its new width.
A feature available in ADT, ArchiCAD, and of course, also in Revit :): empirical changing of your geometry.
